The Vision Apartments residential project in Glattbrugg features a large-scale prefabricated façade composed of GRC panels. As part of the project, we supplied a total of 1,360 GRC façade panels with a combined area of 4,690 m², manufactured as large-format elements with individual panel sizes of up to 9.86 m² and weights exceeding 400 kg.

During the design development, we replaced the originally proposed aluminium façade substructure with a solution combining reinforced GRC panels with integrated ribs and the four-point DAKO – GRC SMART anchoring system. Optimisation of the load-bearing and anchoring system reduced the substructure weight from approximately 26.4 tonnes of aluminium to around 6.1 tonnes of stainless steel, resulting in an estimated saving of 180–200 tonnes of CO₂ in the production phase (A1–A3). The simplified four-point fixing concept also enabled more efficient installation of the large-format panels, shorter installation times and a reduction in installation costs of approximately 40%.
